| - Unified Engineering Solutions (UES), colloquially known as Unified Engineering, is a cross-industrial corporate super-conglomerate based on the developed Unified Earth Government colony world Tyrrhenia. Known best for their military manufacturing, they notably design and produce a wide variety of weapons, equipment, aircraft, exoatmospheric small craft, and starships. Unified Engineering also maintains a private military division capable of security, garrison, VIP escort, and light conventional warfare operations. By 2552, the company employed nearly twelve hundred active military operators, though by 2560, this figure had risen to more than four thousand personnel, which almost entirely comprised former UNSC Defense Force personnel who were more often than not conscripted into compulsory military service during the Human-Covenant War. Following the United Nations Space Command's victory over the Covenant in the great war., a number of the United Nations Space Command's largest private shipyards remained damaged or destroyed by invading Covenant Imperial forces. The largest of these, Reyes-McLees Shipyards had lost almost the entirety of their orbital and surface complexes during the Battle of Mars in 2552, thus being forced to rebuild from the ground up, with the aid of a small amount of financial support from the UNSC. As Tyrrhenia, along with numerous worlds near it, was entirely untouched and unencountered by Covenant warships during the war, the majority of Unified Engineering's manufacturing complex remained intact and operable; they were the most capable shipwright available to the UNSC in 2553. They promptly took on the responsibility of repairing—and, at times, refitting—the UNSC Navy's standing fleet of warships and logistical support vehicles. In 2564, the company began construction on the first vessels in the new wave of state-of-the-art military starships, and by mid-2565, the first destroyers of the Hellespont-class were commissioned into service: the Hellespont and the Starseer. Dozens would follow in the years to come, in addition to warships of various other types. That same year, the UNSC contracted the UES Navajo, a small, minimally armed sloop carrying one hundred light infantry operators to investigate the appearance of a manned human freighter in the Boreal outer colony system.
