About: Olumic   Sponge Permalink

An Entity of Type : owl:Thing, within Data Space : dbkwik.org associated with source dataset(s)

Olumic is an alloy (or, some would argue a ceramic) comprised of the pianetic metals Tungren and olumart powder. Tungren is typically brittle and not very malleable, but is desired for its high melting point and resistance to corrosion. It is very dense, and by alloying in olumart decreases its overall weight and brittleness without significantly compromising its strength. Many more shape-conforming panels and objects can be formed because of this alloy, and the unique retardation of electromagnetic penetration is also passed on, to a small degree, to olumic because of the presence of olumart.

The alloy is used to great extent in armor applications, especially by the Union Marines and specialized units of the Provincial Army of the Union.
