Mendor Typhoons was a Matukai, who had two apprentices c.580 BBY. He was approached by Bodo Baas after the Jedi Order's failed attempt to return the Zeison Sha into the Order's fold. Baas had heard that Mendor and his apprentices had defeated a group of pirates on their own near Ord Radama. He had a good sense of humor, but believed the Jedi's way of teaching students in the Force was elitist and ineffectual, and believed he could do a better job of it.
