Vergere's Holocron was a Sith artifact purportedly created by Vergere, a Jedi Knight who was a candidate for a Sith Lord under Palpatine before the latter decided on Count Dooku instead. Vergere's Holocron was created in response to a chain of events in Vergere's life, starting with a vision of "Far Outsiders" invading the galaxy, destroying everything in their path, and ending with her betrayal of Darth Sidious. Knowing it would be impossible to enlighten the Jedi as to Darth Sidious's identity, she constructed a Holocron and made it appear as a Sith artifact, and finally planted it on Korriban shortly before her fateful mission to Zonama Sekot.

The Holocron was programmed to guide one who found it on a journey to discover the truth of the Sith: Not only that the Sith have returned, but that the Sith Master, Darth Sidious, was to create an Empire and that Dooku was merely an instrument in his plan. It also was programmed to lead whoever it taught to discovering the threat of the Far Outsiders, though not before rigorous indoctrination into Vergere's worldview that considered the most effective course of action, which often included inaction. The Holocron shared Vergere's philosophy that one must endure great trials to come to understanding. It also taught how to be a leader, mixing elements of Sith and Jedi doctrine in its advice. The Sith Holocron was hastily put together, and therefore was not able to recognize the difference between a Force-sensitive sentient and a Force-sensitive bacteria sample, a flaw Kaffman and Radar Spectros exploited in order to unlock the Holocron, even though they were not Force-sensitive.
