A close-up of the sword is given as Princess Zelda drops it to the ground, when the leader of the shadow beasts, Zant, approaches her. This act is a symbol for the surrender of both herself and the kingdom of Hyrule. In the final battle of the game, the sword is used again by a possessed Zelda to battle Link in the Throne Room. She uses the sword for several physical attacks, as well as magical attacks. She drops the weapon when Link defeats her. It is not seen again and is presumed to be in the ruins of the castle following its destruction. It appears to be based on Renaissance era longswords, with a slim blade and large crossguard. Additionally, it features a ricasso, a blunt section of the blade that may be gripped to increase accuracy with a stab.
