A hyperlink is a component for most implementations of hypertext. Hypertext is text that is intended for reading in an order that is not necessarily linear; that is, text with more than one appropriate order to read it. Most Web pages are examples of hypertext. There are places in the text that link to multiple different next places to read. A hyperlink is one way to create a connection between one piece of text to another place. In the normal Web protocol, these links have a name or piece of text as it will appear on the page, and a target or place where the reader may wish to go. On the Web, the default is that such links are underlined and in a different color, but it is possible to create links with many other formats. An example of a hyperlink is Wikianswers home. In this example, the name is "Wikianswers home" and the target is the home page of wikianswers.
