Following the end of the Boshin War, Imperial Japan went into a rapid industrialization and militarzation under the slogan Fukoku Kyohei (meaning "Enrich the Country, Strengthen the Armed Forces.") in which it led to it's emergence as a World Power following the end of the Russo-Japanese War.
