Ben The Brain played lead guitar in The Aquabats from 1994 - 1996. He was a founding member and contributed quite a lot through in the days preceding the release of The Return of the Aquabats!. He was strongly influenced by surf music (as were other members of the band) and that was turned up quite strongly in the music. Ben the Brain's moniker was justified as he was a mad genius of sorts, with his complex sense of humor, profound musical talent and stunning graphic design skills. Ben designed the covers to the early demo tape, The Revenge of the Midget Punchers and The Return of the Aquabats!.

Ben the Brain's moniker was justified as he was a mad genius of sorts, with his complex sense of humor, profound musical talent and stunning graphic design skills. Ben designed the covers to the early demo tape, The Revenge of the Midget Punchers and The Return of the Aquabats!. In 1996, Ben had to resign from the band due to familial obligations, but remained in close contact with the band. This friendship was honored at the 1999/2000 Aquacadet Summit where Ben was awarded the "Lifetime Achievement Award".
