Colin Neidermeyer first made his appearance at OtherSpace during Arc VIII: No Place Like Home. He was a top-ranking military commander in the Guardian Fleet in the year 3000, serving primarily on the starbase Retribution and the attack vessel Falstaff. An unapologetically vulgar xenophobe, Neidermeyer executed disobedient personnel and aliens of questionable character. He also often made his soldiers punish themselves for failure. For example, he made one officer break his own fingers for failing to thwart a Lunite attack.

In 3001, after Mars broke away from the Solar Consortium, Neidermeyer became Second Consul of the Martian Republic. While working as the right-hand man to First Consul Christoff Vandervere, Neidermeyer continued to cultivate a reputation for violence, hurling journalists through windows, killing them with rapid decompression and generally making a public relations nightmare out of himself. Neidermeyer soon found more suitable work as a majordomo for Boss Cabrerra on Tomin Kora. Here, Neidermeyer nurtured the growing piracy career of John Falkenberg and tormented captured Nemoni in the Last Call Tavern in Shadowheart. Nemoni assassins blew up Neidermeyer, however, paving the way for the rise of his replacement, Grim. Neidermeyer made a comeback during the Moebius Effect crisis as king of an alternate Earth. King Neidermeyer helped bring back pre-Moebius Mars, becoming a bit of a hero to the Martians, but the Solar Republic under Neidermeyer's leadership went to war with the Orion Arm Treaty Organization. Neidermeyer died during a battle near Ganymede. The seemingly dead king made yet another appearance in 3004, in Specialist form, as a servant of the diabolical Vollistan Light Singer, Volari.
