"This is ODST Captain Bisken Dalek to AIR Cruiser Majestic Royalty. Our ground radars are going crazy. What is happening up there?" No response. Captain Bisken almost kicked the computer. He used a meditating technique and inhaled deeply. This is the fifth time I tried. I really hate this old piece of crap. He sat down onto his chair and tried to contact the Majestic Royalty again. No response. He looked at the connectivity status bar and saw that a single word could barely reach a person a few miles away. Suddenly, the bar launched up to halfway full. He tried again.
- "This is ODST Captain Bisken Dalek to AIR Cruiser Majestic Royalty. "This is ODST Sergeant Bisken Dalek to AIR Cruiser Ma-" A separate Authority Alpha transmission interrupted him. "The is the AIR Destroyer Pure Logic. We are under attack. I repeat, we are under attack. More than fifty ships attacked us. The Majestic Royalty and fifteen other ships are blown. As well as all of the com satellites. We set up a small personal connection and are sharing it with the military outposts. A small group broke through our defenses and are deploying dropships towards Australia. We calculated their approach and we think they are going to land near Sydney in half an hour. Repel them at all costs." Bisken nearly fell out of his seat. He sounded the invasion alarm and explained the situation to everyone in 934A Military Base. "...heading for Sydney. Regiments 1 and 2, meet in Motorpool 5. The rest of you, hang tight and defend this position in case they penetrate our defenses. And wait for orders from HIGHCOM." The Captain got out of his padded chair and jogged to Motorpool 5. When he got there, most of the troops he requested are already there. He waited a minute more for the rest to file in. "Now Marines, Sydney is ten miles away if we double time over there. We're taking Transport Warthogs. A squad per Hog. I'll brief the mission on the way there. Move out!" ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Bisken narrowly dodged a piece of flying shrapnel. He rushed over to Sergeant Buckwick. "Are you good to fight?" Buckwick had a deep cut in his forehead. He clutched his wound but blood is seeping through his fingers. He nodded. The Marine next to him shook his head. "With all through respect sir, you are in no shape." Buckwick tried to get up, ignoring the Marine's protest. He groaned and give in. He collapsed and the Marine barely caught him. Bisken checked his pulse and lifted him so he leaned on a flipped over Warthog. "Medic!" He turned to the Marine. "What's your name?" "Private James Henderson," he hesitated, "Sir." "I want you to get up there," Bisken pointed at a three story building. An Wraith came out from behind a building and fired at the two Marines. They ran to the cover behind a disabled and wreaked train car. "Get up there and drop rockets onto that Wraith. Once you're done with that, settle in with a sniper rifle. There is bound to be reinforcements since they know we're here." Private Henderson nodded. He ran off. Bisken looked back at where Buckwick is. Or was. Where Buckwick was before was a large slab of melted cement and metal. His assault rifle was also pulverized. It vaporized him. Damn it! The Wraith advanced towards where he was hiding. He emerged from cover, fired a burst at its thick armor plating, and rolled into cover behind a pile of rubble. Bisken fumbled with a probing camera and stuck its lense out at the Wraith. A rocket sped towards the terror followed by an explosion as the explosive collided with its vulnerable rear side. A second explosion, this one of blue plasma, engulfed to vehicle, killing the Brute inside and sending pieces of metal flying in all directions. A dark shadow covered Bisken. He turned around to face the threat. There it was, standing more than nine feet tall, donning red and black armor, and wielding a massive hammer, was a Brute.
