Hepatocellular carcinoma is the most common form of liver cancer and one of the most common forms of cancer worldwide although it is rarer in the United States due to the fact it's main causes are not endemic . It is extremely difficult to treat as surgery to remove the cancer completely is usually unsuccessful, leading to death within six months in most cases. Although the condition has many causes, it is far more common in people who abuse alcohol and those who suffer from hepatitis.
