| - Being an Oracle means that you are one of the most valued people in the party. Oracles also make great allies for duo parties. An Oracle's main function in battle is to heal. While your allies will go into mobs and draw monsters it is your main priority to heal. Having a high WIS stat will be the most effective to this end. Another great thing about the Oracle are the Prayer and Aura of Peace abilities. These two abilities will give your party members a significant boost in health and other attributes for a limited amount of time. Playing on Normal Mode is great as an Oracle because most parties will actively seek you out and you will progress faster towards level 40 to unlock HM and the same can be said about HM to unlock UM. Building an Oracle can be done any number of ways but the most valued is the one that heals. Battle Oracles are Oracles that have healing skills but also stats invested in INT and skills to do single target and Area of Effect to mobs. While not as effective as Pagans in this regard, they are more effective in PvP Borderlands when fighting against the Light. A Battle Oracle will win a battle against a Pagan with the same gear on the same mode for one reason. Oracle's have more WIS and thus more magic defense than Pagans. While Battle Oracles are great for this type of combat, at the higher levels, they will be at a very significant disadvantage in parties and dungeons. Pagans will always deal more damage to mobs and a full or near full WIS Oracle will be much more effective at healing and will more than likely have better or upgraded healing spells that a Battle Oracle would not have. Also a specific reccomendation for Oracles, regardless of build, is to equip a dagger instead of staff and learn the upgrades for dagger passive skills. Daggers attack faster than staffs and will be more effective in combat, if you should have the need to use hand to hand combat. Even a full WIS Oracle should learn a magic attack spell. Personally, I would avoid learning any magic attacks except Magic Spot if you decide to be full WIS. This is so that you are not completely defenseless while playing solo. Below are builds that I would recommend for various types of play for Oracles.
* + 5 WIS per level, + 4 WIS, + 1 REC on every 5th level
* + 4 WIS +1 REC per level for PvP as a healer
* + 3 INT, + 1 REC, + 1 WIS per level for a Battle Oracle
* + 7 WIS per level, +6 WIS, + 1 REC on every 5th level
* + 5 WIS, + 2 REC per level for PvP as a healer
* + 5 INT, + 1 REC, +1 WIS per level for a Battle Oracle
* + 9 WIS per level, + 8 WIS, + 1 REC on every 5th level
* + 6 WIS, + 3 REC per level for PvP as a healer
* + 6 INT, +2 REC, + 1 WIS per level for a Battle Oracle Adding REC here and there is essential so that you do not die easily as you progress through the levels. As an Oracle, unless you are doing PvP, you want your total HP to be 1/3 to 1/2 of your total MP. If you are doing PvP, you would want your total HP at least over 1/2 of your total MP. I highly recommend that if you decide to do PvP as an Oracle, whichever build you decide, that you get the Best Noble Gear from doing the quests and then using Lapis/Lapisia to upgrade your WIS and Defense. If you decide to do PvP on Ultimate mode, this is essential as well as purchasing a 30 day continuous rez rune. The above builds are not set in stone and you can build your character as you see fit. But use it as a guide or a reference. There is another page on this site which has a similar design for all builds on all characters but I derived this guide from my experiences as an Oracle on various difficulties and in PvP and parties.
