  • Anthropomorphism in Kabbalah is anthropomorphic terminology that is used in Kabbalistic teachings to describe how G-d works and reveals Himself within creation. The symbolisms in the Zohar and the writings of the Ari’zal are used to explain the secrets of the innermost functions of the metaphysical (and physical) universe. Common anthropomorphic terms, used in Kabbalah, are "the Hand of G-d", "G-d sees" or "G-d hears". These terminologies are then applied to kabbalistic concepts like Partzuf, where it may be described as having “eyes”, “ears”, “nose”, “mouth”, or “forehead”. These abstract symbols are used to assist the kabbalists' corporeal minds in understanding non corporeal reality. To kabbalists, G-d does not have a form or visage. In reality, there is no “Hand of G-d”, nor does He have an “Eye”, Ear”, “Nose” or “Mouth” as these features are prominent in idolatry, a practice which is heavily condemned in Jewish Kabbalah teachings.
