abstract
  • Work Credits were created in Ylrith Province, Cildania during the period around the general strike of 2256. In response to an increase in poverty caused by large scale unemployment and a lack at the time of decent benefits of strike pay. Work Credits are issued by the Democratic Workers Councils and cooperative businesses in the Confederation of Autonomous Communities they can be used to exchange for goods and services, especially essential items. They are issued to all working members of the C.A.C. currently at the rate of 200 per week, plus 50 extra for every dependent. They have been issued at higher rates in the past however recent increases in the minimum wage and in benefits issued by the central government have rendered them less necessary. Some DWCs in the C.A.C. pay their members in regular Cildars or a mixture of the two.
