The Hungarian E-government Backbone Network (Elektronikus Kormányzati Gerinchálózat (EKG)) was launched in November 2004. It is a secure country-wide IP network for the Hungarian public sector, providing a secured and monitored broadband communication infrastructure and supporting the government intranet. More than 80 agencies have been connected to the backbone. The EGB is connected to the EU's TESTA network.
