Elliot Peters was a career con artist who sold vials of sterile saline solution to 16 flu patients, all of whom died as a result. Peters was convicted of all 16 counts of second-degree manslaughter and was sentenced to the maximum term of 15 years for each victim, to be served consecutively (for a total of 240 years).
