The Temple district, also known as the Temple Precinct or Temple Court, was a series of city blocks on Coruscant jointly overseen by the Jedi Order and the Galactic Republic until 19 BBY when the Declaration of a New Order dissolved the Order and the district was seized by the Galactic Empire. Established circa 5000 BBY when the Republic donated the sacred spire to the Order for their participation in the Great Hyperspace War, the early Jedi set up small facilities which eventually expanded over the centuries and was later known as the Jedi Temple. Following the district's total ruin during the Yuuzhan Vong War, it was reconstructed under the Galactic Alliance and home to the Jedi Temple once more.

  • The Temple District is one of seven districts in Athkatla. As the name suggests, this is the most religious part of Athkatla. The main religion is the Order of Helm, though there is also the Order of Lathander and the Order of Talos. Underneath the district are the sewers. The first time you would visit the district, you will find someone called Gaal trying to convince the people of Athkatla that their god, Helm, is completely fake and his god, the Unseeing Eye, is the deity of the one true religion. This starts the Cult of the Unseeing Eye quest.
  • The Temple District of Capustan was the name of the area surrounding the old Daru Keep, now the Thrall and home to the Mask Council. It was the only part of the city which conformed to a grid pattern of streets.
  • The Temple District was—except for the royal palace--the southermost part of Corus and came up just before the palace. It was patrolled by guards of many different faiths. The Temple District held temples for all gods worshipped in the city such as the Great Mother Goddess, Mithros, and the Black God, but probably also minor gods, because there were "countless temples". This district offered safe passage for anyone passing through. Palace Way lead through the district, coming up from the city and leading to the royal palace. When Alanna passed by the temple or one of the temples of the Great Mother Goddess, and saw the women guards, she thought to herself that she would wear armor and carry weapons, but not merely as a guard.
  • The Temple District of Tai-tastigon is an area in the northern part of the city, east of the River Tynnet and north of the North Fosse. It is walled and gated from the rest of the city, with ornate gateways. Inside, the buildings fit together "like a gigantic puzzle-box", reflecting the Tastigon love of mazes and labyrinths. Jame refers to it as the puzzle-box district at times. The temples of Tai-tastigon are all in this area except for the Temple of the Three-Faced God, the Kencyr temple, which is in the Lower Town.
  • Temple districts are geographical areas which define which stakes and districts are assigned to each temple. Patrons and temple workers generally go to that temple which their stake or district is assigned to. Generally the stakes nearest to a particular temple are in that temple's district. However, there are exceptions. For example, there may be areas near church headquarters where some stakes are not in the nearest temple district, due to the large number of stakes in that area.

Quote
  • Before her lay the puzzle-box, more properly known as the Temple District, […] through cross-currents of incense, hearing the drone of chants on all sides and seeing the tangle of buildings that stretched out of sight at each crossroad, […] the feverish beat of power had now sunk to a steady pulse, it was still undeniably there.

However, there are exceptions. For example, there may be areas near church headquarters where some stakes are not in the nearest temple district, due to the large number of stakes in that area. Members of the temple presidency generally speak at stake conferences in their temple's district and temple workers are ordained for the temple in their district. However, any recommend holder can attend any temple any time it is open. There may be times when it is difficult to attend a temple in one's district, or when one is out of town. Temple districts exist for reasons of order and convenience and a recommend gives you the privilege of attending any temple in the world.
