Text
  • The animals of the North know winter is coming. They have already picked the forests clean and fled south for the winter.
  • Ask for woodsmen who can find food off wild lands.
  • Ask what you can pay or trade in return.
  • Later, Ser Davos comes back. "Our maesters say the snows won't stop. I need you to look for villages, anywhere we can trade or forage."
  • Look for villages to trade with.
  • "We've gold aplenty, but little enough to trade in kind," Ser Davos explains. "But you tell them all they'll have the gratitude of their king."
  • The smallfolk of the North have been storing their harvests to survive the winter. Gold is worth less to them than turnips.
  • "You're a merchant and merchants are welcome anywhere," Davos says frankly. "You won't be too proud to pay or beg or trade whatever's needed."
  • Wonder why Ser Davos wants you to go and not one of Stannis's lords
