The Commission on the Future in General and Democracy in Particular (known as the Republican Commission) is the special task team established by President Travis O'Neill of Washingtonia to research, investigate and determine the future of republicanism in the Kingdom. On 7 February 2013, the Grand Washingtonian Assembly passed the Republic Resolution, giving an optional mandate to the President to do research on the viability on democracy and a much more ceremonial monarchy in the country. King Randall I Washington officially approved of the Resolution through Royal Decree 1722013 on 17 February, and the President created the Commission on 28 July 2013.

The Commission consists of assemblymen from both the Union Nationalist Party and the Christian Libertarian Party, experts in the field of government, historians especially on Washingtonian history but also on that of the United States, France and the United Kingdom, and persons from the legal profession, including judges, attorneys and academics. The Chairman of the Commission, currently Dandridge University Law School Dean, Belinda Roux, is the presiding office of the Commission and leads the official meetings. The Commission must meet at least twice per year and during the rest of the time work on compiling reports and testing public opinion over a long time frame. It has no legal authority to "establish" a republic (a right which rests upon the consent of the King); just to "research, investigate and determine".
