Unfortunately, Rosa died of cancer during 1999 and in 2009, Tomas wrote Gibbs's Marine service number at the crime scene where the body of a Marine was soon discovered, prompting Gibbs and his Major Case Response Team to get involved with Gibbs later summoning Franks to the US to assist. During the case, Agent Anthony DiNozzo began to suspect that Gibbs was possibly Tomas's biological father although it was later revealed that Tomas's biological father was Cesar Castillo, the Columbian drug lord that Gibbs had killed during his mission in Columbia.
