- This article describes the milestones common to all character classes and when (approximately or exactly) they occur in the story arc of the character.
* First Companion Character - approximately Level 7-10
* 35% Out of Combat Run Speed Buff - Level 14
* Starship - Level 16
* Speeder Piloting - Level 25
- As with all MMO's, DBO's leveling system is based on an EXP grind. A set amount of EXP is needed for a character to level. The cap is unknown at this time, but there are several class specific as well as race specific quests that you must complete in order to continue progressing in the game. Much like LOTRO, DBO's quest line are heavily entrenched within the story line of the game. At level 30 the character can undertake a quest that allows them to reach the adult phase of their character's life. In addition the character gets a major stat and skill boost. The speculated system regarding family lineage did not make any show in the beta so it is unclear at this time how much, if at all, it will play a part in continuing the game beyond your first character.
- For example, consider a Human Cleric, an Aasimar Paladin, a Drow Wizard, and a Deep gnome Rogue. When the Human Cleric reaches 5th level, the Aasimar Paladin will be 4th level, the Drow Wizard will be 3rd level, and the Deep gnome Rogue will just be obtaining level 2, each with exactly 10,000 experience points.

Even non-ECL (effective character level) characters may obtain this amount of experience points. However, the level cap of 20 still remains in place.Computation for the Table :
* Class Skill Max Ranks CAP = CharacterLevel + 3.
* Cross-Class Skill Max Ranks CAP = ([CharacterLevel / 2] Rounded up) + 1
* Feat gain for levels 1-20 = (CharacterLevel / 3) + 1
* Feat gain for levels 20-30 = ((CharacterLevel - 20) / 2) Rounded Up
* Ability point gain = CharacterLevel / 4
* Required Experience = CharacterLevel * (CharacterLevel – 1) * 500
* Each level requires an added CharacterLevel * 1000
