During the Christmas celebrations of 1997, Poultry was keen to get everything just right for his Zone's first Christmas since the defeat of Doctor Robotnik. Unfortunately, a string of failures (carol singers with laryngitis, a tree with woodworm and limp crackers) caused Poultry to snap, sending him on an insane mission to cancel Christmas with the help of a mecha. Poultry went on a rampage, ruining Christmas cards and decapitating a snowman. Fortunately, Tails was in the area to remind Poultry of how the other citizens preferred to celebrate Christmas - with each other.

For the first Christmas following Robotnik's defeat, Basil Poultry became so stressed out by trying to make everything just right that he snapped and decided to cancel Christmas altogether. He put on a powered exo-suit and started destroying everything festive, pulling down Christmas lights, dropping Christmas cards in the river, and kicking the heads off snowmen. Fortunately, he was stopped by Tails, who made him realize that there was more to Christmas than just crackers, cards and snowmen. The people of the Zone were quick to forgive him and asked him to join their celebrations, making him realise that he could not crush the Christmas spirit.
