The Second Robotnik War is the conflict between the Eggman Empire and the allied forces of the Kingdom of Acorn, United Federation, and other nations in various regions of Mobius. It takes its name from Doctor Eggman, who replaced Dr. Ivo Robotnik as ruler of the empire following his predecessor's defeat at the end of the First Robotnik War. The war ended abruptly after Dr. Eggman fell into madness following a defeat at the hands of Sonic the Hedgehog. However, conflict began once again as the Iron Dominion simply usurped parts of the Eggman Empire into its territory and continued the war against the Freedom Fighters.

| - The seeds for the Second Robotnik War were planted during a chance encounter between Robotnik Prime and his counterpart, from an alternate-universe, Robo-Robotnik. Although Robo-Robotnik had been defeated by his version of Sonic the Hedgehog, with only his digital consciousness remaining on a derelict space station, Robotnik Prime convinced him not to give up and to transport him back to Mobius Prime. Upon doing this, Robo-Robotnik probed the mind of his counterpart and learned about the Giant Borg, which had been used to nearly defeat an army of Sonics from across the multi-verse by another Robo-Robotnik. When he discovered that a piece of the Giant Borg was located in his zone, he retrieved it and created a new body for himself. He then proceeded to destroy his universe's Mobotropolis, including the Royal Family. Following this he discovered that Robotnik Prime had been killed, and with his arch enemy now dead, he decided to travel to Mobius Prime to fill the void in both his life and Sonic Prime's. He briefly attempted to recreate the Giant Borg by using Evil Sonic to gather its pieces, but when it ended up in the hands of another Dr. Robotnik he simply transported himself to Mobius Prime.
