Der Kommentar der UEFA-Delegation lautete: „Der Veranstaltungsort wird den Anforderungen mehr als gerecht und könnte sogar als ‚Sechs-Sterne-Stadion' bewertet werden.“ Daher dürfen in der Veltins-Arena Endspiele der UEFA Champions League und des UEFA-Pokals ausgerichtet werden.
