  • George Joseph Chatterton (1841-2 November 1909) was a businessman and local politician. The son of John Chatterton of Derby, he moved to London. He set up business as Chatterton and Company, lead pipe makers at Bridge Wharf, Caledonian Road. He was elected as a Moderate Party member of the London County Council representing Islington West in 1892, but was defeated at the next county council election in 1895.Although no longer a councillor he remained in politics, and in 1896 he was Honorary President of West Islington Conservative Association. He tried to regain his county council seat in 1898, without success. He retired to Sussex, where he died aged 68.
