The Dead End Alley was the home of several Minneapolis punk rock musicians, most notably Patrick Costello (Paddy ) of Dillinger Four . The basement of the house was small and cramped but they did manage to hold occasional shows there and there were a lot of parties at the house in general. It was located near the University of Minnesota, at Como & 23rd Avenue. The house was named Dead End Alley because it was next to an actual dead end alley with an accompanying traffic sign that denoted it as such. Mike Griffin, the vocalist for the Minneapolis punk/hardcore band Man Afraid, took his own life there on the night before his band's final show by asphyxiating himself with carbon monoxide vented into a car from it's tailpipe. Everyone else moved out of the house not long after.
