Vanover Yards are operated by Lokkai Starworks in the city of Vanover on Kasputin Yar. Large "tubs" have been formed in the Rofalssa Stalks, large enough to berth a two-hundred-meter starship. The surrounding stalks then have been adapted to serve as scaffolding for Yaries to work directly upon starship hulls in a familiar environment wherein they can be highly efficient. The surrounding stalks then have been adapted to serve as scaffolding for Yaries to work directly upon starship hulls in a familiar environment wherein they can be highly efficient. Some of the displaced Sluissi live in Vanover and also work at the Yards. Unlike many other shipyards, including the orbiting Nenawirth Yards, the Yards here have very little robotics and automation. Typically, Yaries, Sluissi, or any other workers perform much of the construction by hand (or limb, whatever the case may be) with assistance from pneumatic or plasma-powered tools. An entire facility, called a thicket, has been shaped from a particularly dense knot of Rofalssa stalks combined with other select materials and utilized for the assembly of L-200 Halcyon transports. The modular body segments, engines, and chassis are brought in from other worlds in the Commonwealth. Vanover does have a seedy side, with several dozen less-than-reputable outfits stashing pilfered cargoes in the warehouses and dens ringing the Yards, while more than a few ships are hidden away in the stalk forests to be modified beyond legal regulations or repaired from tangles with authorities. The stalk forests do become an equalizer, though, in that there is equal chance of one of these objects vanishing from where it was left, reclaimed by the murky, unseen entities deeper within the forests.
