Qui-Gon Jinn was a great Jedi warrior and master during the end of the Golden Age of the Empire. He believed that the Jedi Order should drop its militaristic ways in favor of a return to a more peaceful nature. He was known more for his skills as an ambassador than as a lightsaber duelist, which was unusual for most of the Jedi at the time. Despite his fame, however, the Order viewed him as an outcast after he refused to execute a prisoner. His famous yet unconventional career as a Jedi ended during the conclusion of the Naboo conflict when he was killed by a Sith apprentice named Darth Maul.

He was known more for his skills as an ambassador than as a lightsaber duelist, which was unusual for most of the Jedi at the time. Despite his fame, however, the Order viewed him as an outcast after he refused to execute a prisoner. He was trained by Count Dooku, and after his knighting, he took on two Padawans—Xanatos, followed by Obi-Wan Kenobi. He was credited with discovering Anakin Skywalker, the Chosen One, whom Qui-Gon believed would help return the Jedi to their original roles as guardians and peacemakers. His famous yet unconventional career as a Jedi ended during the conclusion of the Naboo conflict when he was killed by a Sith apprentice named Darth Maul.
