Born into the Kol family, a clan famous for its Force-sensitives, Raian was discovered at the age of eleven by the Jedi, and offered to join their ranks as a member of the Jedi Order. He was born on an unknown world, though he was moved shortly after birth, along with his parents, to Iridonia where he would live out most of his childhood. Born into the Kol family, a clan famous for its Force-sensitives, Raian was discovered at the age of eleven by the Jedi, and offered to join their ranks as a member of the Jedi Order. Reluctantly accepting, he was taken to the Jedi monastery on Tython to be trained as a Jedi by Master Jasen Korr. His training ended with a mission to Iridonia that ended with him having to confront his old childhood friend, who had been trained as a Jedi alongside him, but had ultimately fallen to the dark side and become a Dark Jedi. Sparring his friend's life and handing him over to the Jedi Council allowed him to pass his final trial, making him officially a Jedi Knight. At some point in his life, he recorded a journal of his life and also created a holocron detailing the lightsaber form of Makashi, as well as the events of the Hutt War and the Second Hutt War.
