- The Wanderers were a group of pirates, mercenaries and outcasts who banded together after the Great War. Each of them had their own reason for staying away from land; some were wanted, some were former clerics, some just loved sailing. They sailed the seas on the Flaming Monkey and had a "base" on an island off the southwestern coast of Libaterra. They were formed when the Flaming Monkey was purchased 11 years ago, though the crew gained and lost many members throughout their history.
- The Wanderers Ice Hockey Club was among the five founding members of the Scottish Ice Hockey Association in 1909-1910. They also played a "house league" competition at Crossmyloof Ice Rink, competing against several other teams, during the same time period. Two Wanderers players, A.J. McGuffie and T. Taylor, were members of the Scottish National Team for two international matches against England, played in March and December, 1910. The Scots fell 11-1 in the first match, but claimed an 8-3 victory in the return game.

As such ,they are exposed to the various threats of the wasteland, such as radiation, poisonous fumes and various monsters and as a result have become a battle-hardened people capable of facing most adversaries. They are often hired by the sedentary population for a variety of tasks, for example to protect their villages, to slay monsters, to transport goods and as mercenaries. However, their relation with the settled population is an uneasy one, as they are also known to raid unprotected settlements and prey on lone travellers and even sometimes carry out full-scale invasions of settled empires - just like nomads in our world often did throughout history. They are also known for, while observing a strict code of honour amongst themselves, conducting a variety of criminal deeds when entering a city, and moving on before the population can react - in general, the settled population views them similar to the gypsies in our world. The Wanderers have no unified political entity, but travel the wasteland in big caravans, often involved in feuds with each other. They travel by foot, use various pack animals and also motorized vehicles. Evolving out of their way of life, they have a unique world-view, seperating it not into being a "place" at a given "time", but rather seeing the world as a sequence of events, a path that leads from the past to the future. According to their mythology, falling back behind one's caravan as well as travelling to far ahead of it means falling of the path into nothingness - thus encouraging cooperation between the people and discouraging solo adventures - likely the interpretation of a very real threat of loosing one's way or falling prey to one of the various monsters inhabiting the wasteland if one leaves the safety of the caravan. Because of their lifestyle encouraging self-reliance and survivalism as insolated bands of travellers, each Wanderer carries a variety of equipment necessary for survival in the wasteland. This includes weapons, but mainly day-to-day tools, such as used for cooking. They also make use of Combiner equipment, for example shields that can be used as frying pans and helmets with a secondary function as cooking pots. They also always wear gas masks, protecting them from toxic fumes and dust, and are rarely seen without them when outside. There are many specialized jobs within a Caravan, some serving the caravan, some specialized at catering to the settled population, but all of them carry the basic equipment necessary to survive in the wasteland, so a Wanderer, regardless of how harmless his occupation, is never met unprepared by the dangers of the wasteland. The Wanderers are clearly from the group of the same name in the RPG Maker game The Way.

An ice elemental slaughtered most of the Wanderers during a battle in Remonton, and the survivors reformed into a new faction called the Blades of Vigilance. The only known survivors of the attack are Axikasha Keiran, Rhyn Suzume, Kaisa Blackwell, Rack and Jose.
