Arcane Power is a mage ability learned at level 62 for those who have chosen the Arcane specialization. For a short period of time it increases damage output at the expense of increased mana cost. - This article is about the rules supplement. For the power source, see arcane. Arcane Power is a 4th edition Dungeons & Dragons rules supplement published in April 2009. The book presents new build options for the arcane power source classes published up to that point: bard, sorcerer, swordmage, warlock, and wizard.
- The Arcane Power ability has two levels: "Basic" and "Super". A Hero possessing Basic Arcane Power receives File:Icon Ranged Magic.png with each File:Icon Experience Level.png he/she has, including the first level. A Hero possessing Super Arcane Power gains File:Icon Ranged Magic.png per level instead, rounded down. This bonus applies only to the Hero's File:Icon Ranged Magic.png . A few Heroes who can acquire Arcane Power have no such attack available, in which case this ability is useless for them.
- Arcane Power is normally limited to 100, with Wizard-specific items being able to increase its maximum by up to +45 (+54 with Legendary items), plus additional up to +20 from Astral Presence and -20 from Energy Armor (can be +20 as well with Energy Tap rune). Paragon levels may grant +25 more Arcane Power. Certain skill runes also recover Arcane Power on hit. Combined with skills like Prodigy, it allows a near-infinite Arcane Power with the proper build and gear. Some Arcane Power-independent builds exist as well.
- Arcane Power is a 4th edition Dungeons & Dragons sourcebook intended as supplementary rules for players playing as characters using the arcane power source, such as wizards or warlocks. It covers all of the officially released classes of the arcane power source, including swordmages, to that point but not later released ones, such as the artificer class. In addition to providing new builds, the book also comes with new feats, rituals, paragon paths, and epic destinies as well as rules for using familiars. Although a book mostly built on game mechanics and rules, also known as "crunch," the book contains a small amount of lore to provide players with a context for their class, such as details on how different races play out different classes.
