Seppun Kyuwa was an assistant of the Imperial Treasurer Yoritomo Utemaro. During the Destroyer War Kyuwa made great profit selling at market food and jade supplies originally destined for the southern armies. In 1172 Kyuwa was visited by the Emerald Champion Shosuro Jimen himself. While they were drinking tea, Jimen uncovered Kyuwa who in turn offered a bribe to remain the matter quiet. Jimen accepted and left. During night Kyuwa became ill with the poison Jimen had given him during the meeting and died.
