Miroth knew that the Osirans would be coming to steal his ship, so he's been paying special attention to the outer defenses while closely monitoring the immediate surroundings. He understands that once the brave and battle-wise Osirans crash into the fortress, the Shax will be unable to withstand the onslaught of these "barbarians". So he's deployed massive forces and set up multiple barriers within the fortress, making it difficult for intruders to break through.
