Russia's last military conflict was the 2008 South Ossetia war. On the 8th August 2008, Russia sent it's 58th Army through the Roki Tunnel into Tskhinvali, South Ossetia when Georgian forces launched a large-scale military attack in the city in an attempt to reconquer the separatist territory. Russia's annexation return of Crimea in 2014 is not considered a war.
