The Lebenskünstler is a device which seems to be nothing more than a pocket watch to the naked eye. While a virtually useless concept when applied to the Soul Society and Hueco Mundo, both of whom are entirely composed of Reishi, the conversion of physical mass into usable energy for a Quincy within the bounds of the World of the Living is an invaluable asset which can easily tip the tide of battle in his or her favor. In terms of application, the device is typically employed from the commencement of an engagement; anonymously severing the bonds between a source of physical matter and attracting said source in chunks that are broken down and converted once they reach a certain distance from the Lebenskünstler. The user himself/herself has complete control over which matter is selected and most commonly utilizes the immediate matter underneath their feet in order to draw upon a source covertly. The device is also extremely durable in design. Though it appears as simply a silver pocketwatch, the Lebenskünstler is actually encased in a type of "soul-synthesized silver" which is extremely durable when exposed to attacks of physical and spiritual nature. The only shortcoming of the device is that, though it appears as a pocket watch, it does not actually tell time.
