  • Used since the mid-19th century on Earth, Barbed Wire and it's more threatening cousin, Razor Wire, is still a staple of basic defense on Mars. The cheaper barbed wire consists of evenly spaced spurs or barbs on a reinforced wire, while razor wire (barbed wire II) is stamped razors or burrs mounted to reinforced wire. Both forms are easy to assemble and construct, even by unskilled labors. Neither are intended to completely stop an assailant, however they do slow the attackers progress, hopefully giving the structure's Security measures to turn on the attacker and drive them back.
  • The Barbed Wire is one of the 3 barriers.
  • The Barbed Wire is a research component in The Last Stand: Dead Zone.
  • The Wire is a Green Class weapon that appears in both Manhunt games. The Barbed Wire appears in the Manhunt missions White Trash, Grounds for Assault, Strapped for Cash, Graveyard Shift, Mouth of Madness, Divided they Fall, Wrong Side of the Tracks, Trained to Kill and Border Patrol and appears in the Manhunt 2 missions Ghosts, Red Light (Wii), Best Friends, Ritual Cleansing and Altered State.
  • Barbed Wires are the first defensive troops in the game. They have the lowest health and damage for the defensive units. Like the other defensive troops, Barbed Wires do not require any upkeep at all. They can be seen frequently in a combat alongside the other trainable defensive troops.

  • Barbed wire, also known as barb wire, is a type of steel fencing wire constructed with sharp edges or points arranged at intervals along the strand(s). It is used to construct inexpensive fences and is used atop walls surrounding secured property. It is also a major feature of the fortifications in trench warfare (as a wire obstacle).

It is featured throughout the Battlefield Series as a fortification.
  • Barbed Wire is an obstacle that forces enemy infantry and (very) light vehicles to take another route, preferably into a prepared kill zone. Barbed Wire can be constructed by several different types of units - at least one unit type per faction. Some engineering units can cut through Barbed Wire, and most vehicles can simply drive through it, crushing it in the process.
  • A person or animal trying to pass through or over barbed wire will suffer discomfort and possibly injury. Barbed wire fencing requires only fence posts, wire, and fixing devices such as staples. It is simple to construct and quick to erect, even by an unskilled person. The first patent in the United States for barbed wire was issued in 1867 to Lucien B. Smith of Kent, Ohio, who is regarded as the inventor. Joseph F. Glidden of DeKalb, Illinois, received a patent for the modern invention in 1874 after he made his own modifications to previous versions.
  • Barbed wires are a length of steel wire with razor-sharp barbs (thus the name) protruding at intervals throughout it. Infantry crossing through a barbed wire fence would likely risk severe injuries, and light vehicles would certainly have their tires cut open. While it would be possible for an infantryman to slowly and carefully negotiate his way through the wire, or cut the strands of wire to pass, in the heat of battle this would endanger their lives. Therefore, infantrymen and light vehicles usually avoid barbed wire. However, infantry armed with explosives find that, luckily, their weapons could clear a path through the barricade, and heavier vehicles could simply crush it under their tracks.
  • Barbed wire was a roll of metallic wire that was "barbed" with sharp edges at various intervals along the strands of wire. This wire was used to quickly erect barriers and fences or to improve fortifications. Barbed wire was used on the Berlin Wall. (TOS novel: The Rise and Fall of Khan Noonien Singh, Volume 1) On the Gorn controlled planet of Seudath, the hangar that held the Orion freighter Treana was mostly heavy girders wrapped in barbed wire. (VAN - Declassified novella: The Stars Look Down)
  • Barbed wire, also known as barb wire less often, bob wire (or, in the southeastern United States, bobbed wire), is a type of steel fencing wire constructed with sharp edges or points arranged at intervals along the strand(s). It is used to construct inexpensive fences and is used atop walls surrounding secured property. It is also a major feature of the fortifications in trench warfare (as a wire obstacle).
