  • William Anders was a 20th century American astronaut in NASA's Apollo program. He was a crewmember, along with Borman and Lovell, on Apollo 8. In 2143, the assignment patch for this mission was displayed in the 602 Club. This patch bore the astronaut's last name. (ENT: "First Flight")

  • Anders, a self-taught former Dolist, enlisted in the People's Navy in the middle of the 19th Century PD and was promoted to petty officer in 1870. He was nicknamed "Five" for unknown reasons. By the time Oscar Saint-Just's dictatorship was overthrown by Admiral Thomas Theisman, Anders had been given an officer's commission and reached the rank of Lieutenant Commander, having become one of the best practical engineers in the service. Vice Admiral Shannon Foraker had him promoted to Captain and pulled him out of the Research and Development program to become her "staff interpreter" for dealing with the other engineers participating in Project Bolthole.
