Like all Power Cells the Iron Mining Cell is also an all-purpose-tool for pulling blocks, except for ore. (Already crafted) Iron Mining Cells can be found in Diamond Treasure Chests in the Corruption layer underground rarely, or can be crafted in your Crafting Menu (default key "Q") or at Crafting Tables (that still exist in worlds created before R22 on September 16th 2015) Iron Mining Cells can only be crafted after you have unlocked the recipe by taking/crafting an Obsidian Mining Cell. To craft one Iron Mining Cell, you'll need (as of R27 in January 2016):

(Already crafted) Iron Mining Cells can be found in Diamond Treasure Chests in the Corruption layer underground rarely, or can be crafted in your Crafting Menu (default key "Q") or at Crafting Tables (that still exist in worlds created before R22 on September 16th 2015) Iron Mining Cells can only be crafted after you have unlocked the recipe by taking/crafting an Obsidian Mining Cell. To craft one Iron Mining Cell, you'll need (as of R27 in January 2016): * 4 Iron Bars made in a Forge from Iron Ore * 2 Obsidian Slabs made of Obsidian (bars) in a Processor * 8 (blocks of) Saltrock mined from the Stalactite layer, which requires at least an Obsidian Mining Cell * 8 Glowing Mushrooms picked from the Stalactite layer, which requires at least an Obsidian Mining Cell or looted/pet-harvested from Mirus * 4 Seashells found on Sand near Water at any lake or Shore, and will respawn on Sand-blocks if Water is close; but can also be looted/pet-harvested from Pebbles occasionally You will need the Iron Mining Cell to pull Hardened Lava, Igneous Rock and/or Sulfur on the Lava Layer. However you cannot pull any harder rocks with Iron Mining Cells - like corrupted blocks on the Corruption Layer - nor any building-blocks crafted from corrupted rocks. By taking/crafting your first Iron Mining Cell, you will automatically unlock the recipe for Diamond Mining Cells, as well as the recipes for Freeze Bombs, Freeze Resistance Potions and Fire Resistance Potions. With Iron Mining Cells you can pull Water and Tar, but not Bog Water, Mineral Water nor liquid Lava or Corrupted Water, which will need stronger Power Cells. As for the R29 patch, the iron cell can mine up to 350 T4 blocks (lava layer) or 700 T3/T2 blocks (stalactite/fossil), it can mine infiite amounts of T1/T0 (stone/surface organics)
