| - A lightweight, strong, but malleable metal mined exclusively in the region of space around Caspia and Yariz. Olum means shadow in Sarian, and the metal is so named for its lightweight properties, as well as a few other peculiar characteristics. It is found in the strata of a clay, called Olumar, on several asteroids and moons throughout the star systems in this region of space, and when separated from the clay through electrolysis, it settles into clumps, called pugs, of oluminia and a heavy, dense paste comprised of olumart powder. The powder is actually used further as one of the primary ingredients for a trademark Caspian alloy called Olumic.

Pure Oluminia is exceptionally lightweight and strong, and is used primarily in structures and objects where this property is highly favored. It works exceptionally well in the aerospace and vehicular industries. Oluminia, though, is unique insomuch that it can retard sensor signal penetration — its crystalline structure actually absorbs and deadens several thousand electromagnetic frequencies. This means that it reduces the detectability of whatever object it is a component of. For this reason, CDMC has heavily relied upon it for body panels on aerospace craft. Usually, for increased strength, it is laminated to durasteel or equivilent armor plating. Researchers now speculate that Olumekar is heavily composed of Olumar, and that a great deal of the atmosphere is filled with clouds of pulverized olumart powder, stirred up by storms.
