The $94 million spending plan. * cut seventh-grade football * introduces fees, beginning with the 2011-12 school year: * athletics, $75 per student per athletic activity not to exceed $225 per family per year; * extracurricular activities, $25 per student per non-athletic activity, not to exceed $75 per family per year; * parking permits, $60 per semester parking permit fee; * intramurals for grades 4 to 8, $35 per student per year for participation in intramurals in grades four through eight, not to exceed $105 per family per year; * activity bus use, $25 for an annual student pass for use of the activity bus service, not to exceed $75 per family per year; * Administrative salaries are also frozen for the year, * asked the teachers union for a year freeze on salaries. The budget cuts and fees were approved by a 6-3 vote with board members Eric Gordon, Sally Hanley, Jeanette Lahm, Anthony Storti, and Jason Wehrle and board President Robert Hill Jr. voting in favor. Eric DiTullio, Joseph Scalamogna and James Welsh voted against the items. Seneca Valley asked the state for permission to raise the tax rate by more than the 1.6 mills allowed by law in order to erase a $10 million deficit in the budget.
