Matsu Sodohime, daughter of the Matsu Daimyo, was married to Akodo Daio, and mother of Akodo Toturi and Akodo Arasou. She was the first Matsu to be married to an Akodo, which were traditionally not allowed to marry due to concern over strife such a union would cause. To circumvent the prohibition Daio changed his name to Matsu Daio, and the male children would be raised as Akodo. The Matsu, expecting the first child of the couple to be a daughter, immediately turned upon the boy with suspicion, guessing he would clearly be a weakling and a failure.
