  • Larry Dann (born 15th May 1941 in Hammersmith, London) appeared as Dennis Tanner in the dry run of Episode 1 of Coronation Street recorded on 18th November 1960. The part was recast and went to Philip Lowrie who had previously auditioned for the part of Ken Barlow. Although Dann has never appeared in main programme, he did appear in the spin-off Pardon The Expression, in the April 1966 episode Whose Been Sleeping in Our Beds? as Jimmy Parker, husband of canteen assistant Rita.

  • Larry Dann (born 15th May 1941 in Hammersmith, London) appeared as Dennis Tanner in the dry run of Episode 1 of Coronation Street recorded on 18th November 1960. The part was recast and went to Philip Lowrie who had previously auditioned for the part of Ken Barlow. Although Dann has never appeared in main programme, he did appear in the spin-off Pardon The Expression, in the April 1966 episode Whose Been Sleeping in Our Beds? as Jimmy Parker, husband of canteen assistant Rita. A former child actor, whose film career started in the late 1940s, he has gone on to have a long and successful career with appearances in series such as Z Cars, The Plane Makers, Theatre 625, The Wednesday Play, Hunter's Walk, Angels and EastEnders. From 1985 to 1992 he had a regular role in The Bill as Sgt. Alec Peters while on the big screen he was in several of the later Carry on... films and two of the successful Norman Wisdom comedies. On the stage, he worked for Joan Littlewood in the Theatre Workshop and appeared on tour in Oh, What a Lovely War!.
