- Position Description: Working with the Director of Technology the Network Administrator will manage all academic and administrative technology systems and support the integration of technology at all levels. The Network Administrator will report to the Director of Technology. Duties and Responsibilities:
* Support and maintain the following computer platforms including backups of network servers
* Network Servers: Windows 2003 Server w/Active Directory and MacOS X Server
* Network Applications Servers: Blackbaud database server, Exchange Email server
* Network Clients: Windows 2000, XP and Mac OS X
* Network Protocols: TCP/IP, AppleTalk. Network Equipment: Cisco Switches, Cisco ASA Firewall, Cisco Wireless Controller and Cisco ACS Server
* Network Printers: HP, Konica, Epson, Minolta copiers
* Manage and support the school's network system for students, faculty and staff
* Manage and support the school's internet protocol and URL filtering system
* Manage and support the school's help-desk ticketing system
* Configure and install new hardware including network equipment
* Manage and direct upgrade and/or repair of existing hardware
* Keep all constituents informed of operational aspects of the network
* Maintain an inventory of hardware and software
* Familiarity with Blackbaud applications a plus
* Manage Email Server and other components of the email architecture
* Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance on computer and phone systems.
* Provide tape and/or disk backups of campus servers and databases nightly and regularly test these backups
* Regularly conduct recovery capability tests
* Respond to problems assigned by Help Desk System
* Maintain expertise in computer technology and provide suggested improvements and advancements to school's system
* Provide any assistance pertaining to any technology questions, including those that are not directly related to computer or phone systems.
* Work with the Director of Technology on maintaining and improving the school's intranet and web site
* Work with the Director of Technology to generate and manage the Technology Department Budget
* Work with the Director of Technology to advance Strategic Technology Plan
* Other duties as assigned by the Director of Technology
* In addition to network administration, responsibilities may include teaching technology course(s)depending on the interests and abilities of the network administrator. Skills and Abilities:
* Knowledge of Microsoft Server Operating Systems
* Knowledge of email systems
* Knowledge of Back-up systems
* Knowledge of Symantec Backup Exec
* Knowledge of security and anti-virus software
* Knowledge of enterprise firewall appliances
* Knowledge of VPN implementations
* Understanding of databases and database administration
* Knowledge of SQL server 2005
* Ability to troubleshoot network and operating systems problems.
* Knowledge of phone systems
* Ability to install and maintain network cables and equipment (hubs, switches, routers, etc.).
* Ability to design, configure and maintain enterprise scalable LAN, WLAN, and VLAN.
* Knowledge of Cisco switches and routers
* Knowledge of various software packages and programs.
* Knowledge of PC imaging software and cloning techniques (Ghost, Altiris, KACE, etc.)
* Knowledge of audio/visual systems. Other Related Requirements:
* A desire to train faculty and staff in the use of administrative and academic software
* Analyze existing procedures and develop improvements for optimum use of technologies
* Analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action.
