abstract
  • File:Quake3.png The Grappling Hook is an unused weapon in Quake 3 Arena. The game was once designed to be team based. However, the development team removed some of its content after the later changes and chose to simply hide it. It has no textures applied, until in Quake Live. The Grappling Hook fires an electric ray similar to the Lightning Gun. When it hits a solid obstacle or another player, it begins to pull the user through the ray until player collides with the target. If the player lets go of the fire button, the grapple link will break, but if the player switches weapons while holding the fire button, they will be stuck to wall until switching back again to the Grappling Hook. This was fixed in Quake Live. In Quake Live, the Grappling Hook has applied textures, and has its own chain projectile.
