Off-screen, Bernie wasn't the nicest dog. In fact, he was down right destructive when he wasn't paid attention to by his owners. If he had been human, then he might have been called a diva. He was taken on a series of tours to countries where his show was aired, and got used to being the center of attention. In fact, it was almost as if Bernie expected to be the center of attention. It was in the mid 1950s when Bernie's attention seaking behavior took a turn for the worst. In front of a live studio audience, Bernie turned on Joey (a young co-star) and mauled him in front of horrified onlookers. Bernie was shot by law enforcement officers shortly after. Strange things do happen, and either by a quirk of fate or someone having a strange sense of humor, Aedna was brought into Necromundus as a Lupiod and given the gift of independent freewill and also human level intelligence. While he isn't an attention seeker these days, he'll most likely try to 'walk the boards' if he gets a chance and tell actors how it is done.
