The peak bear was a species of animals native to the planet Sphinx in the Star Kingdom of Manticore. They were referred to as snow hunters by treecats. (HHA1.1: ABF) Found near the southern edge of the Tannerman Gulf area, it did not regard humans as much of a threat. It was believed to be omnivorous, and stood nearly 1.4 meters tall at the mid-hip, and two meters tall at the top of the head when in "centauroid" posture and weigh up to 550kg (1200lbs). Its overall body length was about four meters.
