At the very beginning of the episode, young Lisa Cooper stole some comics from the news stand and ran away. Hiding down an alley, she witnessed a murder, and had to be placed in protective custody. Built in 1892, the five-storey, red brick Gooderham Building is the first flatiron building in a major city. It is located in a narrow wedge of land between Wellington Street and Front Street where they join in a complicated intersection. The actual street address is 49 Wellington St. East. The Flatiron Building was the office of the Gooderham and Worts Distillery until 1952. There is a trompe l'oeil mural on the blank brick wall at the rear of the building. This depicts a section of the Perkins Building across the street, thus producing the illusion that the blank wall has windows in it. The edges of the mural are painted to look as though some of the corners are tacked down while the untacked edges are curling.
