  • Jean Savard (born April 26, 1957) is a retired Canadian ice hockey centre. Savard played 43 games for the Chicago Black Hawks and Hartford Whalers in the late 70s. He was a natural goal scorer who excelled in junior, the minors and Europe. He was chosen 19th overall by the Hawks in the 1977 NHL Entry Draft after leading the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) with 84 goals and 180 points as a member of the Quebec Remparts and being named to the league's first all-star team. In 1977-78 he split his rookie pro season between Chicago and the Dallas Black Hawks of the Central Hockey League (CHL). The next season the ratio of minor pro to NHL games increased and he was left exposed at the 1979 NHL Expansion Draft. The Hartford Whalers picked Savard in the hope that he would be able to regain his scoring touch. He only played one game for his new club but registered a decent 28 goals for the Springfield Indians of the AHL.
