At the climax of the war, his father was killed by the Clone soldiers under his command during Order 66. A year later, the 501st Legion and Darth Vader attacked Naboo. Kotor's mother was killed in the fighting and Kotor was taken as a prisoner to Vader. Vader sensed the boy's power and took him back to the Imperial Palace. Palpatine approved of training the boy as a Dark Jedi and ordered Vader to teach the boy in person.
