After being created, M.D. began stealing instruments. He captured Catty Carlisle and blew Tails into a wind sock. When Sonic and Tails came to rescue Catty, M.D. captured them too. Robotnik promoted M.D. to be the head of the Super Special Sonic Search and Smash Squad. Scratch and Grounder became jealous after Robotnik demoted them to permanent back-up singers. Sonic tricked them into pulling out M.D.'s fuse and letting him escape by saying how they'll trap him, only to get them and Robotnik trapped. They managed to break free and Robotnik fixed M.D., who went after Sonic. Sonic eventually made M.D. explode by playing very loud rock music.
